Greenbank Parish Church has its very own Ceilidh Band

The Greenbank Buskers

The GREENBANK BUSKERS BAND is ready, willing and almost able to play for your birthday/wedding/party/ "you name it" celebrations. All fees will go to charity.

Over the course of the last year, while striving to reach an acceptable standard  and when the weather allowed, the band has played regularly during the Summer months at the Farmers' Market in Castle Terrace. We even played under a tree there when the weather didn't allow!

We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing for tourists, taking requests and having our photos taken.

At the Farmers’ Market this year we have raised over £700 for Scottish Love in Action, and nearly £200 for Link Community Development, a charity that works in partnership with communities and government to improve education in sub-Saharan Africa.

We have also been busy entertaining at a number of other events: an Irish Night, Summer Fair (sheltering in the church vestibule on one of the wettest days of the year), SLA volunteers’ meeting.

Some talented band members have even been composing. We played at the wedding of Hugh Drummond and Jean Steven in May 2012. Our performance included a delightful solo composed and sung by Tom Inglis during the service, "All for nothing, without love", based on I Corinthians 13; and a new jig composed by Louise Coghill, "Hugh and Jean's Wedding".

So if you are thinking of celebrating in Scottish style please consider the Greenbank Buskers – and raise some money for charity at the same time.

For more information please speak to any of the band or email Hazel.
